Pennington Student Achievement Center University of Nevada, Reno
The 777,345 square foot Pennington Student Achievement Center was a plan and spec project in which Nevada Lighting was able to collaborate. The concept for the building was to bring together, under one roof, all the vital student centers on campus. The new facility is meant to encourage interaction, ideas, and planning among the students and staff/faculty. In addition to the group meeting areas which provides the ability for all parties to work together, the facility has fourteen high tech classrooms (in addition to a computer lounge), a meditation room, and a new, unique concept: social steps. Social steps are placed next to traveling stairs so students can interact and socialize in an area free from obstruction. As you can see from the photo, the building is truly remarkable. Nevada Lighting is honored to have been a part of such a beautiful and complex project, which combined architectural lighting, controls, and exterior luminaires. The Pennington Center was designed by H+K Architects, and the consulting electrical engineer was PK Electrical.
