United Federal Credit Union Reno, NV

United Federal Credit Union was a project specified outside of the Reno, NV territory; and, did not encompass light fixtures or controls which Nevada Lighting represents. Knowing the reputation Nevada Lighting has in providing “alternate equivalent” product to the specified fixtures on the project; the electrical contractor reached out to us to bid an alternate lighting package. So as to not destroy the integrity of the specified lighting package; we did our due diligence and reached out to the design team, prior to bidding the project, to inquire as to which products would be accepted on the job. Nevada Lighting’s proposal included well-known manufacturers like Peerless Lighting, Winona Lighting, Gotham Architectural Downlighting, Bruck Lighting and Acolyte LED. The lighting controls system included the very popular and budget friendly nLIGHT system by Acuity Brands Controls. Something to note as well: the proposed “equal package” was not a “VE,” as most “VEs” rarely meet the initial design intent, and, usually cannot pass the International Energy Conservation Code due to a number of different factors. In the end, we were able to work hand and hand with a design team which was not in our territory to deliver a product in which the owner was extremely happy, and offered some cost savings at the same time.
